Finally Break the Cycle of Chronic Stress in Your Body and Mind

Unrelenting stress is burning you out, undermining your health and stealing your joy. But the only solutions anyone offers are 5-minute fixes or courses on stress management that achieve nothing, leaving you feeling guilty and frustrated.

It’s time to put this blame cycle to an end.

Signs that Stress is Taking Over Your Life

Prioritizing Everyone Else

If someone asked you what makes you happy, would you even know? When did you last take the time to meet your own needs?

Stomach Upset

Certain conversations, situations and people send your tummy into turmoil. Maybe you feel your digestion is in distress all the time.

Joint Pains

Maybe you wake up with back pain or get headaches throughout the day. Chronic stress can show up in all kinds of discomfort.

Short Temper

After a stressful day you find yourself snipping at the people you love. The guilt you feel after only reinforces the stress of the day.

Overwhelm

Your mind churns with thoughts and worries in the day and night. You find it difficult to be present and focus on what you are doing.

Feeling Disconnected

You’re so wrapped up in the worries outside your body that you find it difficult to notice sensations and changes to your body.

My story with chronic back pain began when I was 13. After bouncing from specialist to specialist for decades, I finally found relief when l I made peace with my body and my mind.

I was in a grueling corporate career, and I had to take honest inventory of the effects of stress in my life. I had to learn how to identify the early warning signs of chronic stress in my body and take action immediately to stop the downward spiral in its tracks.

Chronic stress negatively affects just about every system in the body. Symptoms are vast and widely felt—especially among women. We know that over time these consequences are detrimental to our quality of life.

But let your emotions show at work or try to prioritize self-care in your home life, and you’ll be admonished to “get a thicker skin” or “stop being so selfish.” It’s a lose-lose.

Let’s rewrite the rules on how we show up for our families, our jobs, and ourselves.
