Pain is a Thief

It steals our money, our joy, and our time. My journey with chronic pain started when I was 13 years old, and I have spent decades exploring therapies, treatments and movement approaches to figure out how to find joy in my body again.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Having successfully reintroduced physical activity to dozens of people after years of persistent pain (including myself), I have consistently found that movement is the best medicine for joint health and mental well-being.

This isn’t woo woo.

It’s science.

Roughly one in four adults experiences chronic pain at some point in their life. With all the advances in pain and neuroscience of recent decades it’s no wonder that pain is so common: we are more stressed, isolated and sedentary than ever before.

Once you have pain on a regular basis you start to lose faith in your own body, and you probably even fear that movement will cause pain. This leads you down a vicious cycle of less movement, more fear, and eventually—more dependence on others for daily tasks.
